Question from Chip: How long can Catheters and insertion rods be left in and still be safe using them?
Aiden Answers: Hello Chip, that’s a fantastic question! Here’s the thing about catheters and insertion rods for your urethra, it’s less important how long you leave them in and more important that they are completely sterile before entering your body. You NEED: sterile gloves, sterile wipes, sterile lube, an autoclave for metal aka reusable toys. NEVER reuse a rubber catheter. Just throw it out and get a new one. Additionally, you NEED to take a class in sterile field. As for time, catheters can be left in over night. Metal rods are generally too heavy to do that. If you are going for stretching, I would say 10 minutes is a max. Let me know if you have any more questions about this fascinating subject! Happy insertions!
